MONTAGUE (WZZM) -- The Montague Wildcats could win a seventh straight district title with a win over the Fennville Blackhawks.

Cockerill did suit up for the Wildcats, and he would help put them on the board first. Cockerill would give it to Steven Murdock would found his way to the endzone making it 7-0 Montague.

The Wildcats would extend their lead after Cockerill handed it off to Anthony Root who broke a couple of tackles before finding pay dirt. That made it 14-0.

In the second quarter Montague took a page out of Mark Dantonio's playbook. Wyatt Ford set up for a field goal, but it was a fake. Anthony Root aired it out to Brandon Moore for the touchdown. That made it 21-0 Montague.

Wildcats best Bangor keep drive for championship repeat alive

MONTAGUE (WZZM) -- The Montague Wildcats began their drive for a third straight Division VI state championship at home against the Bangor Vikings.

Montague wasted no time getting on the board. On their opening possession quarterback Travis Cockerill handed it off to Iisaiah Townsel at the Cat's own 11. Townsel found space up the middle behind a sea of blockers and scampered 89 yards to pay dirt. That made it 7-0 Montague.

Still in the first, the Wildcats would pad their lead as Cockerill and company would work through the air. The junior quarterback found a wide open Anthony Root for the touchdown. That would put Montague up 14-0.

In the second, the Cats facing a third and goal from the nine and Cockerill would once again give it to Townsel. He'd bulldoze his way into the endzone putting the Cats up 21-0.

Montague would go on to win it 42-14.
