Future of 1960s drive-in restaurant in jeopardy

MONTAGUE, Mich. (WZZM) -- There's been a neon glow in downtown Montague for more than 50 summers, but that light will not return this year unless a new operator can be found to take over the Dog 'n Suds Drive-In.

The glow of Dog 'n Suds has reflected off the White River and White Lake from late March through October since the 1960s, but owner David Hosticka says it's time to step away from the restaurant his parents founded.

"I feel like I am more like a caretaker, but yes I am the owner." Hosticka grew up on the grill working alongside his father. "Some of my fondest memories where right here in this building."

This Dog 'n Suds is seasonal; Hosticka runs another that is open year-round in Norton Shores.

"You do not see these kind of restaurants dotting the landscape like you use to," he said.
