WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- At the new Michigan's Heritage Park at Hilt's Landing, visitors can walk through 10,000 years of history. The park near Whitehall opens Saturday morning.

This history park is unique because it doesn't just focus on one time period, but a long range of years.

"That timeline starts with the mastodon around ten-thousand years ago and takes you through the history of the state of Michigan," said John McGarry, CEO of the Lakeshore Museum Center.

There's American Indian wigwams, an English fur-trader's cabin, Civil War camp, logging shanty, up to a 1900s farm house. It's an opportunity to experience history in unique way.

The park also has a picnic pavilion, classroom space, an auditorium and small gift shop.

On June 13 and 14, a Civil War reenactment will take place at the museum.
