Tuesday – Friday 10:30 – 5:30, Saturday 10:00 – 4:00, Sunday Noon – 4:00

Off-Season Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

Pastel artist Sheila Passenier offers her perspective on landscapes, water scenes and portraits at White River Gallery May 1-31. The featured artist will be in the Gallery to talk about her pastels 10:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. May 17.

“I’m really gearing up, looking forward to the new season,” the artist said. “A lot of things fell into my lap this year.”

The luncheon will feature United States Representative Bill Huizenga (R), 2nd District. Congressman Huizenga will inform the attendees of his work with the committees in which he is involved and give an update on local and current issues in Washington D.C., expectations for the future, as well as responding to questions from the floor.

Other invited legislators attending are State Senator Geoff Hansen (R), 34th District and State Representative Holly Hughes (R).

This years’ event is generously sponsored by PNC Bank and hosted by Alcoa / Howmet. Dave’s Kountry Katering is planning a delicious lunch along with table service by Debby Does Dishes.

American Red Cross Honors Local Volunteers and Blood Donors

The American Red Cross of West Michigan serving Muskegon, Oceana, and Newaygo Counties held its annual Volunteer & Blood Donor Recognition Event on Wednesday, April 18. Volunteers reaching years of service milestones and blood donors reaching specific gallon levels were recognized.

“Each year thousands of volunteers and blood donors serve our communities through the American Red Cross. We are proud of the unparalleled record that the Red Cross has of helping people and meeting their local needs,” said Penny Albertie, Regional Volunteer Services Director.  “All of the services are made possible by our dedicated team of volunteers, blood donors, and through continuing support from our generous community.”

Whitehall students recognized for national environmental award

Whitehall students recognized for national environmental award

Seven Whitehall Middle School students and their teacher will be awarded the Michigan State Senate’s White Pine Award by Senator Geoff Hansen (R-Hart) this Friday, April 20, at 10:00 a.m. in the gym at the middle school located at 401 Elizabeth Street.

The students, Alaina Anderson, Breann Comstock, Brooke Bachelder, Nathan McWhinnie, Elle Bachelder, Victoria Learman and Morgan Mitteer, and their teacher Susan Tate, are being recognized for their environmental work that led to the group’s becoming a first place winner in the national Lexus Eco Challenge. The White Pine Award is given annually in recognition of efforts to protect Michigan’s natural resources. The students will be planting the tree on the grounds of the middle school.

The annual West Michigan Student Showcase at the Frauenthal Theater March 14-15 honored high achievers from 35 area schools.  

MHS honorees included:  Bretten Ritter--academics; Hannah Cudney and Christian Seaver--athletics; Natalie Holmstrom--performing arts; and Helairy Weaver--visual arts.

MHS senior Ty Bortell (above) won 1st place (and a $1000 prize) in the Literary Arts division for his suspenseful short story "Troy Bourne."

WHS - CAD Students Place In The Top Three at State Drafting Contest

Hudson Marecek, junior at Whitehall High School, an Architectural/Mechanical Computer Aided Design Student from the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center (MACTC), earned third place at the 2012 State Drafting Contest held at Muskegon Community College on Friday, March 16, 2012. Classmate Jared Felt (Mona Shores) placed second.

Muskegon Community College and the American Foundry Society sponsored the contest. The competition included 55 high school computer-aided design (CAD) students from Allegan, Kent, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, and Ottawa counties. Students were given a "real-life"engineering problem to solve and results were based on accuracy, dimensioning, tolerances, proper layer usage, arrangement of views, and spacing.

Whitehall 10th grader competes in Luge Nationals

Current 10th grade student, Riley Stohr, is competing at the USA Luge Youth National’s in Park City, UT where he currently stands in second place. Riley currently attends Michigan's Virtural University online classes thru Whitehall Schools.
