Muskegon Area Intermediate School District deputy superintendent leaving

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich.—Muskegon Area Intermediate School District is losing its deputy superintendent.

Marios Demetriou has accepted a position as assistant superintendent for finance and operations for Ann Arbor Public Schools.  Demetriou will begin transitioning to the new job on a part-time basis Feb. 1.

Demetriou has worked for the MAISD since June 2004. He worked as chief financial and operating officer for Flint Community Schools, then account and treasury manager at Eastern Michigan University before joining the MAISD family.

“I have truly enjoyed my time here in Muskegon and will be leaving many friends behind. This move allows me to continue to serve our public schools, and most importantly, it allows me to be closer to my children as my son is studying at Eastern Michigan University and my daughter is at the University of Michigan,” said Demetriou.

MAISD Superintendent Dave Sipka said Demetriou will be sorely missed.
