AQUINAS COLLEGE AGREEMENT WITH MCC OFFERS STUDENTS CREDIT TRANSFER OPTIONS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 11, 2015 – On Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, Aquinas College and Muskegon Community College (MCC) signed an agreement that gives students more options for transferring course credits.

An articulation agreement between the two institutions allows students who have earned an Associate in Science and Arts degree from MCC, with a minimum 2.0 GPA in all transferrable courses, to transfer up to 64 credits to Aquinas College toward a bachelor’s degree. Students must meet other transfer course requirements, as outlined in the agreement.

Aquinas President Juan Olivarez, Aquinas Provost Gilda Gely, MCC President Dale Nesbary and MCC Vice President for Academic Affairs and Finance Teresa A. Sturrus were on hand to sign the agreement at MCC’s campus.

“This articulation agreement between Aquinas College and Muskegon Community College will establish a formal process whereby students can seamlessly move from their associate degree to a baccalaureate degree,” said Olivarez. “It is important to offer an efficient transfer of credits for students so that they do not lose academic   time in the transition. We look forward to welcoming many more students from MCC to our campus."

“We are pleased to be partnering with Aquinas College and giving our students a wonderful opportunity to continue their education in West Michigan at a quality institution,” said Sturrus.
