Senate unanimously approves Hansen bill to rename Hart-Montague trail after William Field

LANSING--The Michigan Senate unanimously approved legislation Wednesday to rename the Hart-Montague Trail after the man who was the driving force behind its creation, the late William Field.

Senate Bill 154 will officially rename the Hart-Montague Trail the William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail.

The measure was sponsored by Senate Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Committee Chairman Sen. Goeff Hansen, R-Hart.

“Bill Field was a tireless advocate and a true champion for his idea of turning the out-of-use Oceana County rail service into a recreational trail for the community,” Hansen said.

A professional fishing event has been booked for Muskegon Lake and White Lake this fall. B.A.S.S. LLC has announced that one of four of its venues for championships in 2013 is in Muskegon County September 27-29, 2013.

Committee unanimously approves Hansen bill to rename Hart-Montague trail

 

LANSING--The Michigan Senate Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Committee unanimously approved a measure to rename the Hart-Montague Trail after the late William Field. Senate Bill 154 was sponsored by committee chairman Sen. Goeff Hansen, R-Hart.

Michigan senators, including Sen. Goeff Hansen, R-Hart, look at a book of media clippings related to Senate Bill 154, which was being debated before the Senate Committee on Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. Hansen, the committee chairman, sponsored the measure that would rename the Hart-Montague Trail after the late William Field.

Chess Club at White Lake Community Library

Doug Ogden will lead a six-week session of chess club, open to all ages and skill levels. It is free at the White Lake Community Library. Meetings will be held from 4-5 pm on Monday afternoons until the end of February. There will be no meeting on February 18th, as the library will be closed for staff training that day.
